Under exceptional circumstances, temporary storage of up to 6 months can be arranged at the discretion of J Roberts & Son. Charges by negotiation. On the date that 6 months has elapsed and if the items have not been collected, they will be immediately subject to the full year’s Ts&Cs and charges.
Charges shown on this page include insurance cover for the first £1,000 value of each item in storage. Insurance values are based on J Roberts & Son’s appraisal of retail replacement cost. Weapons valued in excess of £1,000 will carry an additional insurance charge of 1% of the value above £1,000. We are obliged to charge insurance on storage items whether you have personal insurance on your weapons or not.
We require at least one week’s notice in writing of a client’s intention to remove their weapons. No weapons may be removed from our premises without payment in full of any outstanding invoices. It is illegal for us to release weapons or/and ammunition without presentation of original current certificate by the owner. Gun owners have a responsibility to inform us of a change of address and contact details. Indebtedness not settled after 6 months from date of invoice renders the weapon or weapons subject to disposal at auction to defray costs.
Ammunition storage price is dependant on quantity and weight.
Since 2016 anyone renewing their shotgun or firearms certificate requires a general practitioner verification or medical certificate to include with their application to the police firearms department. Initially this was agreed between the Home Office and the British Medical Association but the BMA have withdrawn from that agreement, meaning GPs have no compulsion to provide these forms, which police forces increasingly demand.
Unfortunately, an ever increasing number of GPs, for any of a variety of reasons, are refusing to help and will not provide this medical form or otherwise charge exorbitant fees, which unfortunately they are legally entitled to do. This basically leaves the applicant either high and dry or significantly out of pocket.
If the applicant or certificate holder can’t get verification the police will not progress the application without it. You may well have run into this problem yourself or know someone who has. We believe this poses a significant threat to shooting in this country.
The ShootCert solution is easy. We provide the relevant medical forms required simply, quickly and at moderate cost as recommended by the BASC.
Please take the time to visit the website shootcert.co.uk which briefly explains the history and solution to the current problem. It‘s user friendly and will only take a couple of minutes.
